Project Overview

We propose to develop, construct and operate a 600 MW wind farm and a co-located 200 MW BESS - the Jackson North Wind Farm – JNWF (the Project). The JNWF site is located in Central West Queensland, in the Maranoa and Western Downs Region approximately 35 km south-west of Wandoan and 65 km northwest of Miles.

Once operational the Project is expected to generate around 2000 GWh of wind energy per year. This is the equivalent power consumption of 362,000 QLD homes. JNWF represents a genuine opportunity to support Queensland's energy transition. The Project estimated timeline is due to undergo planning and design in 2023 – 2026, project approvals in 2026 – 2027 with construction planned for 2028 – 2030 and operations for approximately 30 years thereafter.

Community Benefits

At Equis we aim to deliver positive legacy benefits for the local and regional communities that host our projects. We will work with with local governments, community stakeholders and First Nations peoples, to co-design benefit sharing initiatives that drive long-term investment and lasting social, economic and environmental value in the region.

In accordance with current planning legislation, we are conducting a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) to inform the Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) that will be applicable during the operation phase of the Project.

We have established an interim small grants Community Benefit Fund (CBF) for the development phase of the Project, to provide financial support to projects, events and initiatives that benefit its surrounding communities.

Small grants between $1,000 and $5,000 will be available for a broad range of projects and initiatives that create, support or build upon socio-economic, innovation, environmental, educational, sporting, cultural, health and wellbeing opportunities.

Applications for the small grants Community Benefit Fund (CBF) for the development phase will open soon.

Suppliers

We aim to create long-term job opportunities over the life of the project and support skills development opportunities for local people. Local suppliers and regional businesses may register their interest in working with us by completing the supplier feedback form, that will become available closer to the development and construction of the wind farm.
