Project Overview

The proposed Koolunga Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is located approximately 1.1km northeast of the Brinkworth Substation on Power Station Road. The BESS has a battery energy storage capacity up to 200MW and discharge capacity up to 800MWh, which is enough power to supply electricity for up to 26,000 homes for four hours.

The BESS site will be connected to South Australia’s electricity grid via a transmission line that connects to the 275kV Brinkworth Substation. The project will help to secure South Australia’s future electricity demands.

The Project has been granted development approval on the 10th August 2023.
